This is the main level for Blackstorm. Made along with the level designers and artists from Lost Criteria. I was in charge of the shaders, post process, lighting and effects of the enviroment, as well as the main pieces in this post. The idea behind this level was to create a similarity with the ocean. On the top layer, there are less rocks and more ships. In the middle, we would have more debris and rocks, similar to the shallower ocean floors, and also an indicator that there are deeper waters. And the lower area, the dark depths, where there is almost nothing, not even light.
We went through lots of iterations, as it is just one huge map with 3d movement, everything has to be visible and recognizable from every angle and from every distance, every area has to feel different.
I was great working on this game, super fun and an awesome learning experience.
